This free streaming cricket video chronicles the one cricket shot that thundered across the Indian subcontinent and left a decade’s worth of tremors down every Indian cricket fan’s spine in its wake. Javed Miandad’s last ball six against Indian bowler Chetan Sharma to win the Australasia Cup Final for Pakistan vs India.
The last over of this thrilling India Pakistan match was bowled by rising Indian bowler Chetan Sharma. Pakistan had 2 wickets in hand and Javed Miandad was batting on 103.
1st ball: Miandad gets a couple
2nd ball: Miandad hits Chetan Sharma for a four
3rd ball: a sure four stopped and a single’s taken
4th ball: Chetan Sharma bowls the Pakistan tailender to leave India one wicket away from victory
5th ball: a single is run amidst confusion at the bowlers end with a run out chance missed. Pakistan are 4 runs away from victory but Javed Miandad has got the strike.
Up to this point Chetan Sharma had bowled a very good over considering the circumstances and pressure. The last ball he bowled – well he got the thinking right, but the execution was terrible. The immense pressure of an India Pakistan Final converted his attempted yorker into a high full toss. Not even a low full toss which can be hard to get away. Miandad hit it for six with an insurance of two runs on it and Pakistan won one of the most sensational finishes ever in one day cricket. Two things mainly came out of this last ball Miandad six.
Firstly, Pakistan held India in a stranglehold for over a decade and a half with India losing almost every match against Pakistan in Sharjah or wherever they met. It would take the future editions of the World Cups for India to learn how to beat Pakistan.
Secondly, it pretty much ended a promising career for Chetan Sharma. He would fall out of the team soon and return with a huge beard many years later. For all his bowling efforts, even today, Chetan Sharma is unfortunately remembered by Indian cricket fans as the **** who bowled a full toss to Javed Miandad. The previous five balls have been forgotten. Never in cricket has or will one ball or one cricket shot bring out such furious conflicting emotions in fans as this.
