Score: South Africa 156/5 - van der Merwe 48, Peterson 34. SA win.

SA were put in to bat and after an initial blitzkrieg by Gibbs, things quietened down for SA before van der Merwe picked things up in the latter stages of his knock to give SA a good total to bowl at. The Aus innings had good patches but too many overs by the SA spinners where the big hits were denied, ensuring an SA win by 17 runs

Watch cricket highlights of the 2nd test - 3rd day highlights from the 2nd Napier Test. The day saw very cool knocks by Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar and yet since none of them could really get a big hundred, India finished the day following on and with Sehwag back.

The NZ bowlers and fielders stuck it out even when India had threatening partnerships that at times didn't really look like they could be dislodged. And so a good day for New Zealand cricket but lot of work left since the Indian batsmen still pose the best batting lineup in the world of test cricket.

Score: Australia 166/7 - David Hussey 88 (44). South Africa win in the last over - Albie Morkel 37, Mark Boucher 36

After 10 overs Aus had slumped to 71/5 with 3 wickets falling in spinner Peterson's over. With the game looking gone, David Hussey seized the game quite amazingly for his 1st international T20 fifty. After SA had got themselves into a situation they didn't think possible when they'd set out on their chase - over 12 runs required per over with 6 overs to go - Albie Morkel and later Boucher pulled off an incredible win.

Jesse Ryder who was around 130 at start of play on day 2 moved on to super double hundred to cap a series that has entrenched him in the NZ team in all forms of the game. Brendon McCullum went on to his 3rd hundred in rapid time, slowing a trifle as he got close to it. The knocks by the two were replete with poor fielding by the Indians, dropped catches and close shaves, but in the end, the two made it count and put the Kiwis for the first time this series in a dominant position.

The first couple of days have been mostly SA - first the bowlers in particular Dale Steyn bowled the best they have this 2009 series. Then ti was the turn of the SA batsmen, Ashwell Prince (150) and later Jacques Kallis (102 no) to set up a big 1st innings lead with hundreds. Australia's debutant spinner Bryce McGain was taken apart by Prince and the others and conceded over a 100 runs in 11 overs on Day 2.

Another great century by Sachin Tendulkar (his 42nd) that built up a 1st innings lead of 241 in quick time. The morning session in particular saw Tendulkar pull out some breathtaking cricket. Dhoni stuck around with him for a while but after Sachin was out, Zaheer took his chances, got lucky and went on to a 51 no.

Guptill looked really good until he was dismissed a little while before end of day's play.

Smart batting by the Indians considering the time left in the game (weather-permitting). Dravid and Gambhir got together after Sehwag was run out yet again. Their half centuries were followed by a super knock by Sachin that oscillated between controlled and aggressive phases. Laxman hung around for a while but didn't look his smooth self.

A fantastic partnership post-lunch between the captain and Ryder pulled New Zealand out of a deep hole. Vettori in fact outscored Ryder enroute to his hundred. India however managed to peg things back their way with quick wickets towards the end of day's play. All the onus on the Indian batsmen now tomorrow to take a decent 1st innings lead on a pitch that seems to have eased out after the morning session had a lot up for grabs for the bowlers.

Scores: Ind 149 all out. Sehwag 40, Rohit Sharma 43. NZ chase it down in 23.2 overs - Ryder 63, Guptill 57

A nipped in the bud effort by the Indian batsmen that never really looked anywhere like recent knocks apart from when Sehwag was going nuts. Rohit Sharma pottered around for a 43 that didn't really count for much considering he just wasn't able to get the scoring going despite the tail coming in to bat.

There were no stutters in the Kiwi chase despite the early loss of McCullum with Jesse Ryder and later Martin Guptill tearing into the Indian fast bowlers, Ishanth Sharma and Zaheer Khan.

Watch cricket highlights - NZ vs India 4th ODI - played at Hamilton on March 11. 2009. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat - an option they'll be exploring for the first time in this series.

A McCullum-Ryder opening partnership set up the New Zealand total, but it fell away for a while with a burst of wickets. Eventually, cheeky shots by McGlashan led to a flurry of boundaries in the final overs, helping NZ post a very competitive total to chase down.

Well, it turned out to be not enough with Sehwag going bananas across the numerous rain delays.

Scores: South Africa 370 all out. Kallis 93, de Villiers 84.

Siddle and Simon Katich ensured Australia took the 2009 series before tea on the 5th day of the Durban test. This morning, SA had (justified) hopes of a favourable result, Kallis and de Villiers having batted well on Day 4. But it all came undone early into the morning session and beyond that, though there were some brief phases of defiance, SA never really looked threatening enough to pull off a draw from this game.

Siddle took 3 deliveries to end the South African 1st innings and after that it was a tough day out for the SA bowlers with Hughes and Ponting adding on the inevitability of this test match with 2 more days to go. Day 4 looks to be more hard work barring a crazy spell of fast bowling like happened on Day 2.

It was a Yuvraj Singh and Tendulkar show for a while and then it became just a Tendulkar show with the other Indian batsmen worthy side actors. The Kiwis through Kyle Mills and Southee resurrected the NZ chase after the Ryder-Mills madness had been followed by a middle-order collapse. And came exceedingly close.

Australia were first bowled out for 352 and then Johnson produced a ferocious spell to knock out SA before Duminy stood tall amongst the ruins with a 70 odd not out performance. Hughes scored his maiden test ton and looked quite impressive in the process, while Katich made the best of some luck on the field. Hughes scored briskly and the run-rate was over 4 and a half while he was on. Eventually, Aus wrested back some initiative lost, through a gritty 37 no by a Mike Hussey desperate for runs.

Rest

Watch India vs NZ highlights - 2nd ODI played at Wellington on March 6, 2009.

Scoreline: India 188/4. Match called off due to rain.
At the time of the 2nd rain delay, India had reached 151/3 off 24 overs, through a Sehwag onslaught and a late Tendulkar assault. Sehwag as he often does took the onus and hurried to 54 off 36 deliveries. Tendulkar then carried on from there picking up his strike rate substantially before a rain delay broke the momentum. On resumption the next few overs went New Zealand's way with a couple of wickets (Sachin and Yuvraj) before rain halted play again.

The weather shortened the 50 over match to 38 overs, but it didn't matter to Sehwag who was at it from the 1st over anyhow. MS Dhoni came 1 down but it was Raina's 66 that really propelled the Indian total. Dhoni looked the most aggressive he has in recent times, though it didn't always come off.

Mitchell Johnson, Siddle, Hilfenhaus and Macdonald however bowled tight stuff and eventually a few overs after tea, the 1st test of 2009 between the two went Australia's way.
